Decomposed granite, embedded rock, and steep grades make digging here slower than in a suburban subdivision. We treat that as a reason to be precise, not a reason to charge more for guesswork: locate the defect, mark it, dig the smallest hole that does the job, replace the failed section with the right material and grade, backfill properly, and restore the surface.
